San Luis, Arizona— Following Wednesday’s Regular Council Meeting, Council Member Javier Vargas has been appointed to serve on the Greater Yuma Port Authority.
The Greater Yuma Port Authority, GYPA, provides a two-port solution for the San Luis Ports of Entry. It is composed of two members from the City of San Luis, Yuma County, the City of Yuma, and the Cocopah Nation. The authority remains involved with port users and other stakeholders—both northbound and southbound—to ensure efficient port procedures and the cross-border flow of trade and traffic.
“It is with great honor that I will represent the City of San Luis on the greater Yuma port Authority,” stated Council Member Javier Vargas. “Our region’s economic growth and cross-border relationships are crucial to our economic future; I remain committed to contributing my experiences and dedication to the betterment of San Luis,” he added.
The Greater Yuma Port Authority meets on the third Thursday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis City Hall. For more information on the GYPA, its board members, meetings and services, please visit gypa.org
