San Luis, Arizona — New stadium-style lighting has arrived at Joe Orduño Park, home to numerous community celebrations, baseball exhibition games, and organized youth and adult sports.
The City of San Luis Parks and Recreation Department partnered with Musco Sports Lighting in installing a state-of-the-art Relight Structure System, upgrading the parks' existing lighting to energy-efficient LED Technology while preserving the original light poles and structures. This approach reduced overall project costs, improved lighting quality, and will generate long-term electricity savings for the city.
One of the most exciting features of the new system is its ability to deliver customized light shows during special events. During Baseball Exhibition Games, staff can now activate celebratory lighting effects, such as home-run light shows, bringing a professional stadium-style experience to the community, comparable to Arizona Cardinals Stadium.
"The lighting project allows us to serve our community better," stated Angelica Roldan, Director of Parks and Recreation. "Not only are we improving visibility, safety, and the overall user experience at Joe Orduño Park during events and activities," she added.
The completion of this project reflects the city of San Luis ' continued commitment to investing in high-quality recreational facilities that strengthen community pride and enhance quality of life. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on February 26, 2026, at Field 1 of Joe Orduño Park. The entire community is welcome to attend; admission is free.
