San Luis, Arizona — Vice Mayor Tadeo Azael De La Hoya represented the City of San Luis at the Inaugural Binational Air Quality Forum, hosted by the Autonomous University of Baja California and the City of Mexicali.
The forum convened public officials, environmental experts, civil organizations, and academic members to explore cross-border solutions for air pollution and ecological health in the border region.
Vice Mayor De La Hoya participated in the International Mayoral Panel: Public Policies for a Sustainable Future, alongside Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante, highlighting several ongoing efforts by the City of San Luis to reduce emissions, promote environmental stewardship, and expand green infrastructure. Among the projects discussed were:
- The Manganese Water Filtration Project, a $2.1 million investment that improves water quality and supports sustainable growth in eastern San Luis.
- The San Luis I Port of Entry Modernization, a $355 million binational effort that includes the construction of a net-zero energy facility, expanded vehicle lanes, and improved pedestrian access, all designed to reduce emissions and improve traffic flow.
“Air Quality knows no borders, collaboration between our communities is essential to creating lasting, healthy environments for future generations,” stated Vice Mayor Tadeo Azael De La Hoya. “I’m proud that San Luis is part of these crucial conversations,” he added.
The City of San Luis continues to prioritize sustainable development and environmental responsibility as part of its long-term strategic goals. Vice Mayor De La Hoya’s participation in this binational effort underscores the city’s commitment to regional cooperation and environmental leadership.
