San Luis, Arizona — San Luis city officials and staff invite you to join in celebrating the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Gathering will take place outside of San Luis City Hall by the flag pole area. The event will feature worship and prayer for the city, state, and the nation as a whole.
The prayer event represents a diverse group of leaders from various churches, faiths, creeds and cultures coming together as ONE voice to pray for our nation, state, city, community and for God’s divine intervention in our daily life and concerns.
Councilwoman Maria Cecilia C. Ramos will be coordinating the event, and encourage the entire community to observe this day, as well as every day, with prayers for the challenges facing our communities and for people going through difficult circumstances.
The first Thursday in May has been observed as a National Day of Prayer for the last 64 years. Each year, the president issues a proclamation acknowledging the importance of prayer, and inviting “all citizens to join me in giving thanks for the many blessings we enjoy, and to pray for guidance, grace and protection for our great nation as we address the challenges of our time.”
There have been 66 Presidential Proclamations for a National Day of Prayer (1952-2014). Gerald R. Ford (1976), George H. Bush (1989-91) and Barack H. Obama (2012) are the only U.S. Presidents to sign multiple National Day of Prayer Proclamations in the same year.

Event Start Date:
Thursday, May 5, 2016 – 6:00 p.m.
