San Luis, Arizona—The City of San Luis Economic Development Commission is excited to announce the establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee dedicated to harnessing the economic potential of San Luis's rich historical and cultural assets. This initiative aims to promote job creation, enhance property values, boost tourism, and revitalize our community.
With unanimous support from the Mayor and City Council, the Historical, Cultural, and Heritage Economic Development Ad Hoc Committee will actively work to identify and designate historically and culturally significant properties, pursue Certified Local Governments status, and explore grant opportunities for historic preservation. Additionally, the committee will promote the adaptive reuse of properties for business development, focusing on creating vibrant spaces such as boutique hotels, cultural centers, and retail establishments. Strategic marketing initiatives will also be developed to attract tourism, contributing to the overall economic vitality of our city, and boost civic pride.
“Our heritage is a powerful asset, and by investing in its preservation, not only are we protecting our history, we are creating a pathway for future economic growth, stated Armando Esparza, Director of Economic Development and Government Affairs. “This committee will spearhead an effort to implement innovative business practices that honor our past while looking forward to a bright economic future.”
