San Luis, Arizona—The City of San Luis is excited to announce the launch of its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project, which aims to enhance customer service to water utility customers. Starting September 30, 2024, the City will begin replacing water meters throughout the community with advanced metering infrastructure.
Over the next eight months, 5,000 water meters and 4,500-meter antennas will be upgraded throughout the City, offering customers a range of benefits, including access to their water usage data in near real-time. Residents can analyze usage patterns and identify the causes of higher water bills with this information. The AMI infrastructure will allow residents to receive Leak Alerts within 24 hours of a potential leak. This new infrastructure aims to promote water conservation through promoting efficient water usage.
The San Luis Utilities Division has contracted Dana Kepner to perform the installation. Residents and businesses will receive advance notice regarding replacing the meter at their property.
This multimillion-dollar project is partially funded through the Water Infrastructure Financial Authority.
