San Luis, Arizona —The City of San Luis is happy to announce its participation in this year’s National Day of Prayer on May 2nd, 2024, at the City of San Luis City Hall by the Flagpoles, starting at 6:00 p.m. This significant day provides an invaluable opportunity for individuals from various faiths and backgrounds to unite, reflecting on the power of prayer and its profound impact on our communities and nation.
The National Day of Prayer was established in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Truman. It was not until 1988 that President Reagan established the first Thursday of May as the official day. This year’s theme, “Together, let’s lift up the word and light up the world,” highlights the scripture in 2 Samuel 22:39-31.
“The National Day of Prayer is a reminder of the strength and resilience that comes from unity and faith,” states Council Member Maria Cecilia Cruz, organizer of the event. “It is a day to set aside our differences and focus on what brings us together. We look forward to welcoming everyone for a day of reflection, connection, and renewal.”
The event is open to the public.
