[ARCHIVED] Retired San Luis Police Sergeant Jesus De Leon Passed Away

117108162_3301653969872956_2149265021113091447_n (1)San Luis, AZ – Retired San Luis Sargeant Jesus De Leon passed away at 5:22 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Yuma Regional Medical Center after being involved in a hit and run in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.  The City of San Luis San Luis Police Department and the City of San Luis would ask that the De Leon’s Family privacy be upheld during this difficult time. 

Sergeant De Leon served the City of San Luis community within the San Luis Police Department since graduating from the Police Academy in 2000 until he retired in June 2023.  

“Jesus De Leon's unwavering dedication, profound wisdom, and tireless commitment to the betterment of our community left an indelible mark in our city,” stated Mayor Nieves Riedel. “His legacy of service will be forever remembered and cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Sargeant De Leon,” she added. 

On behalf of the City of San Luis Police Department and the City of San Luis, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and loved ones, along with everyone in our Police Department mourning this heartbreaking loss.
