[ARCHIVED] City of San Luis Public Works Adds Three New Trucks to Their Fleet

San Luis, Arizona —The City of San Luis is proud to announce the arrival of three new essential trucks for the San Luis Public Works Solid Waste Division.

The City of San Luis Public Works Department has a fleet of five Side Loader Solid Waste Trucks- one for each of the five routes the city currently utilizes. While averaging about 8,700 to 12,000 pickups daily, the San Luis Public Works Department desperately needed new trucks to continue providing essential services to our growing community.

In July 2021, City Council approved the purchase of a Solid Waste Side Loader Truck, but the truck was only completed and delivered last month due to supply chain issues. Fast forward to May of 2023, Mayor and City Council approved the purchase of a new Solid Waste Side Loader Truck and a Solid Waste Rear Loader Truck. The two new Peterbilt Side Loaders will help alleviate the day-to-day use of the current fleet. The 2021 Freightliner Solid Waste Rear Loader will be utilized throughout the year for right-of-way maintenance and during our annual Community Clean Up Campaign held each fall.

“As the City of San Luis continues to move forward, it is critical to ensure our departments have the equipment necessary for providing our residents with their services,” stated Mayor Nieves Riedel. “While there is still so much more to come, these three new vehicles will ensure services continue with fewer interruptions,” she concluded.

The two new Side loaders and the back loader have been in service since Late June 2023 and have provided better services to our residents.
