San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis was recognized as the safest city in Arizona for 2023 by SafeWise. The City of San Luis has earned a spot on this list since 2016.

To rank number one (1) is a very important accomplishment for the community. It sends a reassuring message that there is a collaborative effort to keep the city safe. Although crime rates continue to rise in the state and the nation, the City of San Luis moved up on the list, only having reported 31 violent crimes.

On a national scale, Arizona had the third-lowest violent crime rate; meanwhile, the property crime incidents dipped from 22.3 per 1,000 people to 14.4, allocating the second-lowest property crime rate in the region.

“I am proud of the hard work the men and women at the San Luis Police Department are doing,” stated Mayor Nieves Riedel. “Thank you for keeping San Luis safe,” she concluded.

SafeWise is an online resource that offers safety solutions, information, and recommendations for the community. Their experts have decades of experience as journalists, product testers, safety and compliance officers, homeowners, and community advocates.
