[ARCHIVED] City Hall Illuminates Gold

City Hall Gold

San Luis, Arizona – To recognize the determination and bravery of children who battle cancer and to bring awareness, San Luis’ City Hall has been illuminated gold and will remain illuminated gold for the remainder of September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, 1 in 285 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. Globally, there are more than 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month emphasizes the importance of life-saving research and the importance of a joint effort to make a difference to children diagnosed and their families.

The City of San Luis and its employees recognize the importance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and encourages everyone to educate themselves on childhood cancer, and do their part to help a friend, a loved one, or neighbor who might be facing it.

“The City of San Luis is proud to declare its commitment to bringing awareness to childhood cancer and the impact it has on children and their families,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “We hope that with City Hall illuminated gold, local families facing this difficult battle can feel supported,” he added.
