[ARCHIVED] City of San Luis Officials Attend State of the State Address

State of the State Address

San Luis, Arizona — On Tuesday, elected officials, stakeholders, and community members gathered in Yuma, Arizona for Governor Doug Ducey’s State of the State Address, marking the sixth year Governor Ducey has personally delivered his yearly address to our region.

Among those in attendance were Mayor Gerardo Sanchez, Council Member Matias Rosales, and City Administrator Tadeo A. De La Hoya. Alongside City Magistrate Nohemy Echavarria, Director of Public Works Eulogio Vera, and Billing and Collections Manager Jorge Perez.

The Governor’s State of the State Address touched on several relevant topics for our region; which included a $4.5 billion investment into Arizona schools that would bring more school counselors, police officers on campus, and school safety. In addition to an innovative approach to equip Arizonans for the jobs of tomorrow and a pavement project that will be adding additional roads to Yuma Proving Grounds

“It was a pleasure to attend Governor Doug Ducey’s State of the State Address and to hear his 2020 vision for Arizona,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “I look forward to continuing to work and strengthen any and all projects that improve San Luis and Yuma County as a region,” he added.
