Henry Chavez Street Renaming

San Luis, Arizona – On May 15, 2019, the San Luis City Council alongside the San Luis Industrial Park Group unveiled the renaming of Henry Chavez Court to the public.

The San Luis City Administration first received the request from the San Luis Industrial Park Group (SLIP) LLC to honor Henry Chavez back in December 2018.  The request to rename Industrial Avenue to Henry Chavez Court was to honor and celebrate the work Mr. Chavez has done for our community. The San Luis City Council wait a unanimous vote approved the street renaming in late February 2019.

Mr. Henry Chavez has dedicated 30 years of his life to the City of San Luis. He has been a part of the San Luis Industrial Park Board for 15 years; during his tenure, he led to secure an additional 30 acres to erected a new facility and secured the necessary funding to develop its infrastructure. As of most recently, Mr. Chavez led the beautification of the SLIP. In addition, He consistently supported local causes and would donate every Christmas 70 food baskets to low-income San Luis residents with the Yuma’s Navy League. With his influence in the industrial sector and the community, the City of San Luis agreed with SLIP’s request submitted to City Administration.

“Henry Chavez always worked on bringing different resources, jobs, and job security to our community,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “He had a vision to see the City of San Luis grow and has dedicated his time, work, and investments into our community. It is an honor to have a street named after him,” he added.
