San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis will be hosting the Miss Southwest Scholarship Pageant this upcoming Thursday, December 6th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center. Tickets for this event will be sold at the door.

Miss Southwest is a local scholarship pageant focused on empowering young women to take upon a leadership role in our community and have a positive impact on our region.

This year’s contestants are Kyara Lardin, Viviann Gurrola, Kimberly Lopez Marquez, Fernanda Medina, and Jackie Perez Arce. All five cheerful and highly qualified contestants are between the ages of 17-23 and are current students in our community.

These contestants will be participating in a series of judging categories, which include casual wear, evening wear, talent, on-stage question, and their community project essay. There will be three winners this year, first place will get a $1,000 scholarship award, the first runner up will get a $500 scholarship award, and the second runner up will receive a $250 scholarship award.

“We are looking forward to empowering young leaders to embrace leadership roles in our community and have a positive impact on our community,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “The City of San Luis will continue to promote development opportunities to our younger residents,” he added.
