[ARCHIVED] Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative

San Luis, Arizona — Mayor Gerardo Sanchez has proclaimed the Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative as an international partnership, which its purpose is to encourage awareness amongst all sectors of society on both sides of the international border to reverse the trends in physical inactivity, poor nutrition and obesity.

The City of San Luis through this initiative is committed to promote a healthy lifestyle by creating environments which serve as recreational areas that facilitate physical activity and invites the community to be more active, as well as promote proper nutrition. This effort between San Luis, Arizona and San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, will reinforce the commitment that both cities have to cooperate with each other.

“As time passes we become more aware of the benefits that a healthy lifestyle brings to our community. It improves the citizens’ quality of life and enhances the overall body function, all it takes is motivation” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez.
