San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis commemorated the completion of a new production groundwater well and manganese treatment plant at Well Site 7, marking a significant milestone in the City’s continued efforts to enhance water production and improve water quality for the community.

This new $6,654,611.99 infrastructure investment will significantly improve water quality by filtering iron and manganese through an advanced media filtration process with a treatment capacity of 2,400 gallons per minute.

Project planning for the new facility began in 2022 with the initial conceptual design, followed by full engineering design in 2023 and 2024. Early procurement efforts secured critical components such as the water filtration system, major electrical equipment, and the construction of the water production well. After awarding the construction contract in 2024, work progressed efficiently, leading the project’s substantial completion in July 2025.

“The completion of the new water production well and manganese treatment plant at Well Site 7 is another major step toward strengthening our city’s water infrastructure,” stated Eulogio Vera, Public Works Director. “The project ensures that our water system continues to meet the growing demands of our community while maintaining the highest quality standards,” he added.

This project emphasizes the City of San Luis’ continued commitment to strengthening public infrastructure and providing residents with safe, reliable, and high-quality water services. Through careful planning and responsible use of public resources, the city continues to build a more sustainable and resilient water system for the entire community.
