San Luis, Arizona—The City of San Luis is pleased to share that a new traffic signal at the intersection of Avenue F and San Luis Lane will be fully operational. This much-anticipated improvement is the result of a collaborative project led by the Somerton School District No.11 and Yuma County, focusing on enhancing traffic safety in a high-traffic area that impacts schools and neighborhoods.
The project is designed to enhance pedestrian safety and alleviate traffic congestion during peak school hours. The intersection now features signalized crosswalks and modern traffic control technology to ensure a safer environment for students, families, and daily commuters.
To allow drivers time to adjust, the traffic signal will remain in flashing mode until Friday, July 18, 2025, before transitioning to full operations.
“While not a city-led project, the City of San Luis supports and applauds this effort to increase safety for students, families, and community members who regularly travel through this intersection,” said Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager. “Another great project for the community!”
As a reminder, please be aware of the new traffic signal in place, the traffic control changes, and exercise caution.
